We sat in ROW 1 this year and even as a 6' 200 pound man the power of this water coming into the boat is amazing. You just recover from one wave, catch a breath and you get another splash and sometimes then another. As soon as we were back at the dock the kids were on the phones telling everyone they know to get to this ride. Britney and Captain were fantastic...they make the trip even more entertaining than it already is. So here's my story as a first timer: Great group of 40 some folks we didn't know. While getting our "gear" the woman in front of me was handed some scuba booties because she had the wrong shoes on. She mentioned that they were wet and asked for a dry pair. The friendly woman on the dock smiled; handed her the pair and said, " Mame, in about 30 minutes you're not going to even notice". We became instint friends as we decided to sit up in the first few rows. Shoulder to shoulder with our husbands on both sides saying, " chill out for the love of God, how bad can it be there are not seatbelts. We had a permanent smile all the way back to home base. It didnt matter that it was a soaking cold ride back.. we laughed so much we cried. Captain and crew were great and we'll be back! What a great time and not to be missed. Last August I bought tickets for my boyfriend for his birthday. We sat in the second row and got absolutely drenched. We were not sure what to expect but we had a great time. Words cannot even begin to describe the fun and excitement. This year I got my brother tickets to go on the Jet Boat rides for his birthday. He had no idea what to expect. We were in the second row and we went on the little "teaser" ride before you get to the rapids. We were spun around "on a dime" and my brother got this big smile on his face and said that was cool. I said you think that was something you are in for a treat. The first wave that came over he thanked me a dozen times for getting him these tickets. After the whirlpool we were coming back and the tour guide told us to put our arms up and lean to the left to get the boat to turn that way. My brother put his arms up leaned left and brought his arms down really quick. We got hit with a wave and then I asked him what was wrong.. He just smiled and said "That water was really cold." (There was water in the sleeves of the raincoat he had on and it went right down his arms when he put them up). We got off the boat ride and he wanted to go again but the next few boats were booked. We went into the store and bought pictures, T shirts, Hats, etc. We got to the car and I told him I hope he had a good time and Happy Birthday. He gave me a BIG hug, smiled from ear to ear and said "Thank you that is the most fun I have had in a long long time." When we were loadig on the boat our gide said we would be going on the 5 class rapids being 6 class the worst. I got so scared! but i ended up being fine!! The Mickey Mouse wave is bretty big! and i thought we were gong on it again but i didnt know that that was the class 5 wave so then i wasn't freightened. But the second last bunch of waves when flying high and crashes on you and they keep come. But it is so worth going!!! It was so sweet!! But we will tell you BRING more clothes cuz you get so soaked. My best friend and I went on the wet jet boat on Tuesday May 15, 2007. Couldn't ask for a better day. Sun was out and hot. The weather condition really didn't matter as you still got soaked head to toe !! As you travel down the Niagara river you can't wait to hit the first big wave. When you finally do hit the 5-10 foot wave the shock from the water sends thrills to your body. You just want to do it again and again even though you can't feel your lower body...lol My one suggestion pick up a waterproof camera before you go. You can take some really cool shots while on the boat. Make sure it has a handle or string as you will need it..lol. That's the one thing I wish I had on the trip as we have no pics on the boat as the photos taken from there photographer didn't turn out that trip :( ! Anyone who wants to wear sun glasses or even regular glasses you can. At one point in the ride they tell you to take them off and place in a net bag attached to the front handle bars. No worries you won't loose them...lol Best experience, friendly staff !!! A Must Do !!! As an adventure seeker, I insisted that we try it. The deal was if she got wet I had to buy her something dry to wear home.... well after an hour trip of unexpected thrills, laughter and pure enjoyment i have to admit she left in a brand new Whirlpool wardrobe. We had so much fun that we have gone back every year for the last 4+ years including making it a special stop on her stagette .... what has become added entertainment is watching the before and after of people who have NO clue as to what to expect.... I don't advise getting your hair done and doing your makeup if this is your first time...... OH and try to sit in the second row! I like how your guides were upbeat and witty during the trip and even during the safety meeting before it. Riding the rapids is quite the rush and I recommend people to try it for something beyond the normal tourist attractions in Niagara. There is something exhilarating about crashing over and through Class 5 waves boiling up from seemingly nowhere. Not only that, but you also get a view and an experience that out of the millions of people that visit Niagara Falls few dare to try. For example, how many people get to go beneath one of the bridges that span the Niagara River, or get to see Class 6 rapids from only a few feet away (you don’t ride those that’s illegal, but you get to peek at them). The Wet Jet Boat might look intimidating, but once you plough through your first wave you’ll want to crash through them repeatedly. Just remember DO BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES there is no way you’ll not get wet and an added hint from me is to wear a pair of swim goggles when the waves come careering towards your face you won’t have to close your eyes or duck. That’s if they stay on your face after a wave hits…lol. I’ll surely be back again. It was hands-down the most exciting thrill ride I've ever been on (well, maybe except a Sabres' playoff run). Tons of water, totally wet but allways felt safe. Huge sensations! I would for sure cross the ocean once more to go there. The whirpool jet boats were the top of my 5 days stay in Toronto. We had the best time and would do it again in a heart beat.
